Lee Stone, CPDT-KA, ABAP-1
Operations Manager and Avian Behaviour and Training Consultant
Lee comes to Parrot Life® from a background in dog training and behaviour consulting. Lee worked with Urban Dog Training in Brisbane between 2010- 2014 under the close guidance of her mentors, award winning trainers Danielle and Paul Shelbourne. She then moved to Port Hedland in Western Australia, opening her own dog training and behaviour consulting business, in May 2014. Her business provides group classes, private training and behaviour modification consultations for canines.
In September 2015 Lee achieved her CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer Knowledge Assessed) through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. When Lee added an Eclectus parrot to her growing family of animals in 2016 she became hooked on parrot behaviour and training. This led to her attending Parrot Life®’s Parrot Training Academy series, and we were so impressed we invited her to join Parrot Life® as an Intern to expand her knowledge of parrot behaviour, health, nutrition and enrichment. Lee has proven exceptional addition to the team as her passion lies in helping people build, improve and develop their relationships with their companion animals through better communication and by providing clients with a clearer understanding of how to interact successfully in partnership with their animals. This is achieved through the use of modern, science-based training techniques with an emphasis on reinforcement based methods. Through the use of Applied Behaviour Analysis techniques, Lee works with each individual animal to ensure that her clients are receiving the best training advice for their situation. Lee has now returned to Brisbane, and contracts to Parrot Life® through her business Animal Haus Behaviour and Training.

Cushla has been working in the avian industry for 9 years and is passionate about parrots and birds of all species. Cush started her work with birds being the sole keeper for a breeder with a large collection of Australian and exotic species for four years. She then moved to Western Australia and managed a bird park where she ran educational school visits with Black Cockatoos and interacted with patrons, educating them about native birds who visited the park. During this time Cush became a registered wildlife carer as well as managing the park for 3 years.
Cush is currently working at the RSPCA in Brisbane and also does volunteer wildlife rescue.
Although Cushla does not currently share her home with any birds, she has previously shared her life with a Galah and Black Cockatoos while in Western Australia.
Cushla has completed a number of courses including Advanced First Aid for Native Wildlife and has just become a member of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators! Cush is looking forward to expanding her knowledge of birds through her time with Parrot Life!
