We are excited to announce our next LIVE event! With not one but TWO expert guests joining Lee for a topic that is close to all of their hearts!
Dr Toni Cockburn and Linda Plumstead will be joining Lee to discuss the topic of purchasing unweaned chicks for DIY Handraising. They will discuss the myths, risks and ethics of this practise, and will bring together their many years of combined experience in the various areas of avian care, health, welfare, breeding and behaviour to cover the topic in depth!
Dr Toni graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Biology and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 2003 and in 2012 successfully completed exams and was granted membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Avian Health. In 2019 she opened Perth Pet Vet, a purpose built, modern and fully equipped veterinary hospital.
Linda Plumstead from Macaws And More has been a bird nerd since the age of 10 when she received her first parrot, a Red-crowned Amazon. Linda moved to Australia in 1989 and parrots quickly became her hobby while working as an RN in trauma/orthopedics. Since her retirement breeding has become her full-time passion! Linda has been incubating and raising parrots for 30 years, some of the species she has raised include Lorikeets, Major Mitchells, Gang Gangs, Black Cockatoos, white cockatoos/corellas, Eclectus parrots, Australian Ringnecks, Indian Ringnecks, she now focuses on large Macaws. Linda has a special interest in incubation and hand rearing techniques.
